Dramatically enhances mobile phone, headset and handset communication quality
Following 2011 CES Audio Product Innovation Award of Xonar sound card, which Cmedia has collaborated with ASUS to develop, Cmedia’s new launching CM7000 Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC)Voice Processor SOC won Computex 2011 Best Choice Award of IC & Component category again due to its industrial leading noise cancellation capability while keeping voice fidelity, flexible algorithm and SoC architecture, as well as its tiny chip size.
Cmedia’s Xear™ VoClear dual-mic ENC technology could be applied to mobile phone and headset products. It utilizes two low-cost omni-mics to capture independent signals and then distinguish the target voice and dynamic ambient noises by algorithm to further cancel the environmental noises from the mixed signal, leaving clear voice to be heard. In almost any ordinary noisy environments such as heavy traffic roadside, noisy subway, sports stadium, expo center, or even disco or karaoke pub, user can deliver noise-free, crystal clear voice communication, and no more need to repeat the words more and more loudly, or to find another quiet place to make a call. It could also save the worry sometimes you may not want to be known by the caller where you are. It will extremely enhance the convenience and privacy for making a call and refresh the user’s communication experience.
“Dual-mic ENC function has been getting more and more common on high-end Bluetooth headsets and smart phones. From cost and marketing analysis perspectives, it will become a “must-have” standard feature in the future. However, most of the existing products in the market could only suppress the background noises partially, and could not make a “WOW” feeling. Many users even don’t know the function is built into their devices. Cmedia’s advantage is integrating innovative algorithm on a small but versatile CM7000 DSP SoC to cancel up-to-40dB background noises, about 10 times better than existing products. In most noisy occasions, enabling ENC function will make it sound so quiet and most customers who have seen the demo all felt a “WOW” experience. I think this may be one of the major reasons to win the Computex award." says Jason Liang, director of C-Media Electronics Inc.
